A beautifully crafted example, made from genuine ostrich egg shell that has been cut and polished into a bowl.

The three black feet are decorative supports, believed to be made from horn, resin or carved wood, and the interior has been lacquered or sealed to strengthen the shell.

These were commonly produced in South Africa and Namibia as high-end craft items and sold in safari lodges, galleries and gift shops.
