A handsome pair of vintage decorative ducks, individually carved from wood and richly hand-painted.
The two closely matched birds feature beautifully detailed plumage in warm brown and ochre tones, highlighted with deep green, blue, cream and black. Their layered, raised wings and pronounced tail feathers give the figures an especially sculptural quality, while fine incised detailing across the bodies creates the appearance of individual feathers.
Although designed as a pair, subtle differences in their painted decoration give each bird its own character.
A wonderfully decorative pair with strong folk-art appeal, equally suited to a country-house interior, a collection of natural-history inspired objects or as characterful additions to a bookshelf or console.
Condition: Good vintage condition overall, with minor surface and paint wear consistent with age and use. Handmade variations are present.
Age: Probably later 20th century; exact date unknown.
Origin: Unknown.
